ABOUT
THE SONG:
"Little Hearts"
is a song about a mother and
a father getting so wrapped
up in the mess they've made
of their relationship, that
they forget they're dragging
their children along with
them. Children are smarter
and more intuitive than we
know. No amount of door closing
or excuse making can hide
the truth when something just
isn't right. There is no end
to the hurt and damage inflicted
upon our children when we
expect them to be oblivious
to our problems and go on
with their young lives. They're
not just our witnesses. They're
our students.

HEARTS

They used her body up to
build him a family
And she bottle-fed his weakness
for years
There ain’t nothing
wrong with the man
But he never learned when
to give so he just gave up
She loved dressing up and
going out to the bars
And he loved how she always
turned their heads
But when she stopped turning
his
She just turned around and
she found someone else
Chorus:
But you can’t do that
You don’t get to choose
What to throw away and what
to use
When you’re not the
only ones losing
It’s not your game
You don’t get to play
If you do, you throw their
home away
Little hearts can break, too
And they’re watching
you
He’d get mad at her
and go and crawl in a bottle
And she’d drown him
out with credit cards and
clothes
And the worst part of it all
Is they’re not the ones
who take the fall
The young ones always pay
Chorus:
So you can’t do that
You don’t get to choose
What to throw away and what
to use
When you’re not the
only ones losing
It’s not your game
You don’t get to play
When you do you throw their
home away
Little hearts can break too
And they’re watching
you
